Cha-Am: general information

Situation and maps

On this page you will find a detailed description of the road from Bangkok to Cha-Am, as well as a general map of Cha-Am which shows the main streets. A detailed city map will also be available soon.

Cha-Am in Thailand

Cha-Am is located on the sunrise side of the Gulf of Thailand, 170 km southwest of Bangkok and 25 km north of Hua Hin.

Global road map

The road #35 (Rama II) gets you out of Bangkok (through Rama IX bridge). You pass Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram, and after about an hour, half-way to Cha-Am, you reach the junction with road #4 (Phetkasem). Phetkasem goes south and divides into two just before Cha-Am. One section goes to Cha-Am and Hua Hin along the coast, while the main section runs more on the west. The two sections join again between Hua Hin and Pranburi.

Orientation in Cha-Am

Orientation in Cha-Am is very easy. In red on the map is Phetkasem road (road #4), the road that goes down south along the coast.

The first set of traffic lights marks the Cha-Am junction (yek Cha-Am). Narathip road goes east to the beach, and west to the train station and the administrative area (main post office, police station, district office, city hall...).

At the end of Narathip road, the beachfront begins. You can turn left to North Cha-Am, or right to South Cha-Am.

The small streets (soi) of the beachfront are numbered starting from the Narathip junction. Soi North 1, soi North 2... soi South 1, 2, etc.

City map

City maps of Cha-Am are available in travel agencies, and at the tourist police station at the end of Narathip Road. You should be able to find one without difficulty.

We are also working on a city map of Cha-Am, which will be available soon on this website. Thank you for your patience!
